It's Honey Season - Is Your Jar Ready?

The season is here

There is something deeply satisfying about honey season. The hum of a productive hive, frames pulled heavy with capped comb, and the steady amber stream of the extractor - and then the moment it all comes down to: the jar.

Whether you are a hobbyist beekeeper bottling your first harvest, a small-scale producer supplying local delis and farm shops, or a growing brand building a loyal following, the jar you choose says as much about your honey as the honey itself. Glass is the gold standard, inert, flavour-safe, endlessly reusable - and at Coloured Bottles we stock a range of food-grade glass jars built precisely for the job.

Why Glass Is the Right Choice for Honey

Honey is one of nature's most chemically stable foods, but it is also surprisingly sensitive to its container. Glass protects what plastic cannot.

Flavour-Neutral

Glass carries zero risk of chemical migration. Your honey tastes exactly as it should - nothing more, nothing less.

Total Transparency

Buyers buy with their eyes first. Clear glass lets the colour, clarity and texture of your honey do the selling.

Endlessly Reusable

Customers who reuse jars are customers who return. Glass supports the circular, sustainable values of responsible beekeeping.

Labels That Stick

A smooth glass surface takes paper and adhesive labels far better than any plastic. Your branding looks crisp and stays put.

Five Tips for Bottling Honey Like a Pro

Beekeeper's Bottling Guide
  • Bottle at the right temperature. Honey flows best between 35–40°C. Too cool and it moves slowly; too hot and you risk damaging delicate flavour compounds.
  • Leave consistent headspace. A 5–10mm gap below the lid reduces the risk of leakage and looks clean and professional.
  • Label while warm. Glass that is still slightly warm from filling accepts adhesive labels more cleanly than cold, condensation-prone surfaces.
  • Check your fitment size before ordering. Our jars come with specified fitment sizes — make sure your lids match. We stock food-grade closures to pair with every jar.
  • Store labelled jars away from direct light. Glass is stable, but light can shift the colour of pale honeys over time. A cool, dark shelf keeps your product looking its best.

Make Your Jar Unmistakably Yours

A good jar gets attention. A great jar builds a brand. If you are looking to step up your presentation — whether for retail, wholesale, or gifting, our sister company Colorlites offers bespoke glass spraying, custom colours, and decorative finishes that transform a standard jar into a signature product.

From a delicate frost to a bold colour coat, custom finishes give your honey range a shelf presence that no competitor can replicate. Get in touch with the Colorlites team to discuss what is possible.
