Why Amber Glass Is Not Enough for CBD Oil

The problem with standard glass packaging

When CBD oil is exposed to light, a process called photodegradation begins. UV and high-energy visible (HEV) light wavelengths interact with the organic compounds in the oil — including cannabinoids and terpenes — breaking down their molecular structure over time.

Clear glass offers virtually no protection. Amber glass, the most common choice in the CBD industry, blocks UV wavelengths effectively. But it does not block the high-energy visible light wavelengths — the blue and violet end of the visible spectrum — which research indicates also contribute to the degradation of light-sensitive organic compounds.

For brands selling premium CBD oil, this matters. The product that arrives at your customer's door is only as good as the packaging that protected it during storage and transit.
